Description

Miniatures are a really fun challenge to any artist who enjoys detail.

Miniature artworks are generally subject to two main rules:

  1. The One-Sixth Rule: According to this rule your subject needs to be depicted in one-sixth of life size or less.  In other words – if you’re drawing a bird that is normally 24cm in length, you’ll need to render it in 4cm or less.
  2. Your completed artwork needs to be smaller than 17cm x 17cm including the frame and mount.

All of this is meticulously explained in the Fine Lines Prospectus
